The Secret of Life

نَظَرِيَّةُ دَارْوِينَ أَصْبَحَتِ الْآنَ مِنَ الْمَعْلُومَاتِ الْأَوَّلِيَّةِ الَّتِي يَتَعَلَّمُهَا التَّلَامِيذُ فِي الْمَدَارِسِ الْإِعْدَادِيَّةِ وَالثَّانَوِيَّةِ

Darwin's theory has now become basic knowledge that pupils learn in middle and high schools.

وَمِنَ النُّكَتِ الدَّارِجَةِ فِي الْمَجَلَّاتِ وَمِنَ الْمَوْضُوعَاتِ الشَّائِعَةِ الَّتِي تُصَاغُ حَوْلَهَا الْقَفَشَاتُ الصُّحُفِيَّةُ

And one of the common jokes in magazines and common topics around which journalistic witticisms are formulated.

إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِّ أَصْبَحَتْ مَادَّةً يَوْمِيَّةً مُسَلِّيَةً

To this extent, it has become daily, entertaining material.

وَمَعَ هَذَا فَإِنَّهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ فِي نَظَرِي أَبَدًا شَيْئًا مُسَلِّيًا

However, in my view, it was never an entertaining thing at all.

وَمُنْذُ قَرَأْتُ لِدَارْوِينَ وَأَنَا أَسْأَلُ نَفْسِي كُلَّ يَوْمٍ

Ever since I read Darwin, I have been asking myself every day,

هَلْ فَسَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا الرَّجُلُ سِرَّ الْحَيَاةِ حَقًّا؟

Did this man really explain to us the secret of life?
