فِي هَذَا الْفَصْلِ الْعَظِيمِ النَّافِعِ الْمُبَارَكِ

In this great, beneficial, and blessed chapter

فَصْلٌ فِي أَسْبَابِ شَرْحِ الصَّدْرِ

A chapter on the causes of the expansion of the breast

قُلْنَا إِنَّ الْفَصْلَ يَهْدِفُ إِلَى أَمْرَيْنِ عَظِيمَيْنِ

We said that the chapter aims at two great matters

أَوَّلُهُمَا بَيَانُ هَذِهِ الْأَسْبَابِ النَّافِعَةِ الْعَظِيمَةِ

The first of them is explaining these great, beneficial causes

الَّتِي جَعَلَهَا اللهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى سَبَبًا تَشْرَحُ بِهِ صُدُورُ الْعِبَادِ

Which Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, has made a cause by which the breasts of the servants are expanded

وَالْأَمْرُ الثَّانِي تَحْقِيقُ أَنَّ هَذِهِ الْأَسْبَابَ

And the second matter is establishing that these causes

اجْتَمَعَتْ فِي أَكْمَلِ مَرَاتِبِهَا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Were gathered in their most perfect degrees for the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace

فَكَانَ صَدْرُهُ أَوْسَعَ الصُّدُورِ وَأَشْرَحَهَا

So his breast was the most expansive of breasts and the most open

دَلَالَةً لِأَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ عَلَى الطُّرُقِ الَّتِي تُسْلَكُ لِجَلْبِ أَسْبَابِ السَّعَادَةِ

As a guidance for the people of Islam to the ways that are followed to bring about the causes of happiness

وَتَقَدَّمَ أَنَّ الْإِمَامَ ابْنَ الْقَيِّمِ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ سَرَدَ مِنْهَا تِسْعَةً فِي هَذَا الْفَصْلِ

And it was mentioned previously that Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, listed nine of them in this chapter
