وَهَذَا مَعْلُومٌ، هَذَا أَوَّلُ الْمَوَاضِعِ وَهُوَ دُعَاءُ الِاسْتِفْتَاحِ بَعْدَ تَكْبِيرَةِ الْإِحْرَامِ

This is known, this is the first of the positions, which is the opening supplication (Istiftah) after the opening Takbir (Takbirat al-Ihram).

وَهَذَا أَوَّلُ مَوَاضِعِ الدُّعَاءِ دَاخِلَ الصَّلَاةِ

This is the first of the positions for supplication within the prayer.

نَعَمْ هُوَ اسْتِفْتَاحٌ لَكِنَّهُ دُعَاءٌ

Yes, it is an opening, but it is a supplication.

فَأَنْتَ تَقُولُ فِيهِ اللهُمَّ وَتَسْأَلُهُ سُبْحَانَهُ

For in it you say 'Oh Allah' (Allahumma) and ask Him, Glory be to Him.

خُصُوصًا فِي بَعْضِ صِيَغِهِ الَّتِي يَأْتِي فِيهَا دُعَاءُ طَلَبٍ

Especially in some of its versions where a supplication of request occurs.

وَأَنْتَ تَقُولُ فِي عَدَدٍ مِنْ تِلْكَ الصِّيَغِ سَائِلًا رَبَّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ اللهُمَّ

And in a number of those versions you say, asking your Lord, the Almighty and Majestic: 'Oh Allah'.

بَاعِدْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ خَطَايَايَ

Distance me from my sins,

كَمَا بَاعَدْتَ بَيْنَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ

As You have distanced the east from the west.

اللهُمَّ نَقِّنِي مِنْ خَطَايَايَ

Oh Allah, cleanse me of my sins,

كَمَا يُنَقَّى الثَّوْبُ الْأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ

Just as a white garment is cleansed of filth.
