لَا يَنْجُو مِنْ هَذِهِ الْفِتَنِ فِي زَمَانِنَا هَذَا واللهِ

No one is saved from these tribulations in this time of ours, by Allah,

إِلَّا مَنْ دَعَا دُعَاءَ الْغَرِيقِ

Except for one who calls out with the prayer of the drowning man.

قُولُوا بِرَبِّكُمْ كَيْفَ هُوَ حَالُ الْغَرِيقِ إِذَا قَارَبَ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ وَالْغَرَقِ

Tell me, for the sake of your Lord, how is the state of the drowning man when he is near death and drowning?

لَا يَرَى مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا اللهَ

He sees nothing of the world except Allah.

لَا يَرَى مِنَ الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا السَّمَاءَ

He sees nothing of the world except the sky.

يَسْأَلُ رَبَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى أَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ

He asks his Lord, glory be to Him and exalted is He, to save him.

فِي سَاعَةٍ يَعْلَمُ فِيهَا حَقًّا أَنْ لَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ مِمَّا هُوَ فِيهِ إِلَّا اللهُ

In an hour when he knows truly that nothing will save him from what he is in except Allah.

كُونُوا كَحَالِ غَرِيقٍ يَسْأَلُ رَبَّهُ أَنْ يُنْجِيَهُ مِنْ زَمَانِ الْفِتَنِ

Be like the state of a drowning man asking his Lord to save him from the time of tribulations.

مَا قَرَأْنَا فِي كِتَابِ اللهِ سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى

We have read in the Book of Allah, glory be to Him and exalted is He,

وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوا أَيْمَانَكُمْ دَخَلًا فَتَزِلَّ قَدَمٌ

And do not make your oaths a means of deceit, lest a foot should slip
