كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ عَلَى بُعْدِ خُطُوَاتٍ مِنَ النَّصْرِ

The Muslims were just a few steps away from victory.

"أَنَا أَسَدُ اللَّهِ!"

"I am the Lion of Allah!"

لَكِنَّ خَطَأً وَاحِدًا حَاسِمًا قَلَبَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ رَأْسًا عَلَى عَقِبٍ

But one decisive mistake turned everything upside down.

وَجَدَ الْمُجَاهِدُونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ فَجْأَةً مُحَاصَرِينَ

The Mujahideen suddenly found themselves surrounded,

مِنَ الْأَمَامِ وَالْخَلْفِ مَعًا عَالِقِينَ بَيْنَ هُجُومَيْنِ عَنِيفَيْنِ

from both front and back, trapped between two fierce attacks.

فِي يَوْمِ أُحُدٍ، ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي امْتَلَأَ بِالِابْتِلَاءَاتِ وَالْمَشَقَّةِ

On the day of Uhud, that day which was filled with trials and hardship,

انْتَشَرَتِ الْفَوْضَى وَالذُّعْرُ فِي صُفُوفِ جَيْشِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

chaos and panic spread within the ranks of the Muslim army,

وَأَصْبَحَ الصَّحَابَةُ فِي حَيْرَةٍ تَامَّةٍ، لَا يَدْرُونَ مَاذَا يَفْعَلُونَ

and the Companions became completely bewildered, not knowing what to do.

فَهَلْ سَيَجِدُونَ مَخْرَجًا مِنْ هَذَا الْفَخِّ الْقَاتِلِ؟

So will they find a way out of this deadly trap?

وَحِينَ كَانَ النَّصْرُ قَرِيبًا إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِّ كَيْفَ آلَتِ الْأُمُورُ إِلَى هَذَا الْمَصِيرِ؟

And when victory was so close, how did matters come to this fate?
